if the only reason you stand with an oppressed group is because you want recognition for how awesome you are and and not because you want societal oppression to end, you may be an asshole.

allies need to realize that the second you make it about yourself or your voice overpowers that of the oppressed or you start making demands for your recognition or accomidation that you are allowing your privillege to derail and hurt whatever movement you are allies of.

supporting an oppressed group as allies does not resolve you of prvillege. remember that.
